hanging rock

easy trip with an iconic view

A beautiful ride that brings you to one of the most iconic views in the mountains at The Hanging Rock Blackheath.

This is situated 9 kilometres from Katoomba, in the town of Blackheath. A short distance from the train station the track starts on Rigewell Rd. An easy 7 kilometre journey brings you to the spectacular rock and a great place for lunch. Slightly uphill on the return journey. But the trip back is broken up by a multitude of single tracks along the route. With the town nearby you can distract yourself from the pain and suffering with great cafes and bakeries before heading back out for more great riding.

oaks fire trail

open trail for the nature lovers

This trail starts in the mid mountains town of Woodford, 15 kilometres from Katoomba and the flying fox. You can put your bikes on the train which leaves every hour or pop the bikes in the car. This trail is an open fire trail and doesn’t have the stunning views of hanging rock or narrow neck. But at the back end there is a nice 8 kilometre section of single track that takes in a jumps track near the river. Then after crossing the causeway it’s up up up to glenbrook station and a well deserved stop off in Glenbrook Township while you wait for the train.

This trail does have some very steep sections even though you lose 400 metres in elevation.
